Avatar Maker
Build a character face piece by piece across eight categories, then download it as a PNG or share it with a link. Everything happens in your browser.
Your shelf
Characters you save land here. They are stored in this browser only; nothing is uploaded.
Designing an avatar that reads at small sizes
Profile pictures are usually shown at 40 to 100 pixels, so the details that survive are silhouette, contrast and one strong colour. Three quick rules:
- Contrast the hair against the background. A dark hair colour on a dark background disappears at thumbnail size.
- Pick one accessory, not three. Horns, a crown or an eyepatch instantly change the silhouette; more than one turns to noise.
- Let the expression carry the personality. Fierce eyes with a smirk say rogue; happy eyes with a grin say bard.

Questions
Is this avatar maker free?
Yes, completely. It runs in your browser with no account and no watermark. Download a 1024 × 1024 PNG and use it as a profile picture, a token for a virtual tabletop or a placeholder portrait for your story.
What are the 8 customization categories?
Skin, face shape, hairstyle, hair colour, eyes (with eye colour), mouth, outfit (with outfit colour) and accessory. You can also change the background. That is over 40 million combinations.
Can I share or edit my avatar later?
Every avatar has an 11-character code in its link. Copy the share link and anyone who opens it sees the exact same avatar, ready to edit. You can also save avatars to your shelf in this browser.
Can I use the avatar commercially?
Avatars you make here are yours to use, including on social media, streams, game tokens and book promotion. The artwork parts were drawn for CharacterForge.
Can AI make an avatar from a description instead?
Yes. The AI character creator on our home page writes a full character from your description and can paint a portrait in painted, anime, ink or pixel style.
