How to use a character questionnaire
Answer quickly and in the first person. If an answer bores you, the character is probably still generic in that area; push until something specific comes out. Then move the best answers into your character profile template. For flaws and arcs, the personality generator and character flaws list help.
Questions
What is a character questionnaire?
A list of questions you answer as your character, in their voice. It is a writing exercise for discovering habits, values and history you would not think to plan, and it works for novels, screenplays and tabletop RPG characters.
What are good questions to ask your character?
The most useful ones force a choice or reveal a value: what they would grab in a fire, what they lie about, what they will not do even to survive, who they envy. Questions about favourite colours rarely change a story; questions about fear and shame usually do.
How many questions should I answer?
Five to ten good answers beat fifty rushed ones. Roll a few at random, answer them in the character's voice, and stop when you have surprised yourself.
