Making a superhero character your own
- The best superpowers come with a built-in limit or cost. The limit is where the stories are.
- The secret identity needs its own goal, separate from the hero's mission.
- Tie the origin to the weakness: the event that gave the power should also explain what can take it away.

How do I make an original superhero?
Start from a power with a cost, then build a civilian life that clashes with it. A hero with super-speed who works a slow, careful job (surgeon, watchmaker) already has tension. Avoid copying existing heroes' costumes, names and origins.
Can it make supervillains too?
Set the story role to Villain or Anti-hero, or use our villain generator for motive, method and weakness.
Where does the hero name come from?
Hero names are built from a power word and a title, and they are generated, not taken from a list of existing heroes. Search a name before you publish to check it is not already taken.
Is this character generator free?
